With the fuel cell vehicle market just around the corner, the development of convenient refueling is imperative. And once again, FuelMaker has taken the lead. Building on many years' experience in the natural gas market, we are developing the VRA (Vehicle Refueling Appliance) for use with hydrogen.
Whether the hydrogen stream comes from an electrolyser or a natural gas reformer, the FuelMaker VRA will dry it and compress it to 5,000 psi. For many applications, the VRA components may be combined with an electrolyser or reformer into a single integrated appliance, which can be used to fuel an FCV (Fuel Cell Vehicle) directly. Alternatively, the appliance may deliver the hydrogen into a storage/dispenser system, which can then be used to fuel the vehicle in a much shorter time frame than direct fueling.

Custom Engineering
In Torrance California, Honda R&D fuel cell vehicle drivers are refueling with hydrogen produced by solar-powered electrolysis. The FuelMaker system compresses the hydrogen and stores it in composite tanks designed for 5,000 psi. The hydrogen is dispensed to the vehicle using a unique Fast-Fill and 3-bank cascade system. The site was custom designed for Honda R&D. |

Integrated SystemsWorking with Stuart Energy Systems, our VRA has been combined with their small-scale electrolysis package. We provided a hydrogen VRA, complete with the compression, drying, controls, and electronics modules, for integration with their hydrogen generating system. Formed by electrolysis, the hydrogen is ready to use as fuel for FCVs once it has been compressed by our VRA. |
